ABOUT

"Music has been an amazing gift in my life.  I was always encouraged by my music teachers and my parents to share this gift with others, whether it be teaching, creating or performing.  I thank them for their encouragement, as it is an absolute joy to share what I know, as well as study what I do not know, with my students.

I've learned that every student has a unique creative talent and voice that inevitably is paired with their own unique set of weaknesses and challenges.  I pride myself for always finding creative solutions to foster their talent while remaining patient, warm and encouraging with a healthy dose of discipline.

Where words fail, music speaks.  Let's get speaking without words!"

LESSON INFORMATION:

ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS WELCOME.

I currently teach beginner to advanced students from as young as 5 to as young as 80!
Teaching children has been my specialty, but I've been enjoying helping adults find there way as well.
Here comes a cliche:  It is never too late to start or to start over again.
Even cutting age neuroscience is debunking the myth that we are not able to learn new things when we get older.
With that excuse aside, what is stopping you from finally learning to play an instrument?!

WHAT STYLES ARE TAUGHT?

I will teach any style that you wish to learn.  You can learn a lot about music from any style:
classical, rock, folk, metal, punk, reggae, blues, funk, jazz, show tunes... etc.

Very often, students go into learning music by wanting to play only one particular style of music.  That style is that first introduction to a huge world of music and that is fantastic.  We will learn that style.  But I will also say that the study of different styles and techniques will only lead us to a deeper understanding of that larger world of music and towards the acquisition of a larger palette that can be used in our journeys toward creative and technical mastery.

That being said, I will never force anyone to learn something they are not interested in learning!  Let's get started where you want to start!

LEARN AT YOUR OWN PACE.

Everyone learns differently and at varying paces.  Pacing the lessons appropriately for each individual is of huge importance to me.  Most of the time, I'm slowing things down!  Why does it seem that everyone is in a such a rush?  There's no shame in taking your time.  The biggest mistake students make is rushing to get to a large goal, thus sacrificing the depth of understanding needed to master playing a particular piece of music.

Let's set some goals, a good pace and then get moving knowing that we can always adjust.

UNIQUE APPROACH FOR EVERY  STUDENT.  NEVER THE SAME LESSON.

One of the most important goals as a teacher is to inspire creativity among all of my students.   If I were to come into each lesson with the same exact approach, I would NOT be doing that.  The lessons have to and will always be unique, fun and filled with surprises each and every week.   Life is more exciting when you don't know what to expect!

Another important goal of mine is to set up and continually restructure a discipline that always addresses an individual student's needs at that particular time.  Lessons have to be and will always be tailored to meet the needs of the student during that particular lesson.

WHAT SOME OF MY STUDENTS ARE SAYING:

"Thanks to Cam, my son went from a 7 year old beginner to an artist with two original records out in the span of a decade.  He is a fantastic teacher and mentor.  Look no further if you are hoping to see your child's creativity flourish!"        - Noel M. (father)  |Los Angeles|

"Cameron is simply a great teacher. You don’t find many people who are fully classically trained, a bona fide rock star, nice, enthusiastic, patient, flexible, and inspirational!  I went from a very basic level to being able to play London’s Calling by the Clash and several other songs with a non-trivial part in a few months. With his help once a week I went on to play Is She Really Going Out With Him (Joe Jackson), Hey Joe (Hendrix) and many others, as well as having the confidence to play public blues jams with people I’d never played with before. I couldn’t recommend Cameron more highly – grab him while you can."    - Martin, 52  |London|

"Cameron is an awesome teacher!  He has made every lesson fun and engaging and has tailored them around my personal musical goals and tastes.  He transcribes music that I choose to work with rather than using material that doesn't inspire me, and I really feel that he genuinely cares about my musical growth and development.  He's warm and encouraging, I look forward to each lesson and always come away feeling that I've made progress.  Can't recommend him enough!"    - Cariad, 32  |New York|
